Services that you'll never outgrow.
Recently, in a discussion about women and advancing their careers, I heard the term, “Lean In.” When I was pregnant with my first child, I wish I had heard this term. I wish I had Leaned In. Instead I made excuses to myself about why I wasn’t the best candidate for a project, because at some point I would be going on maternity leave and it would be better for the company to go with someone else. Instead of putting the pedal to the medal and staying invaluable to the company, I took myself out of the running and limited my career advancement. I didn’t even know I was doing this. Now, many years later, I had an “AHA” moment when I heard this term. It resonated with me. I had a choice back then. I could have Leaned In. If there is a term for this, then other women must be doing it too. Any opportunity I get to speak to a young woman in the crossroad of career and family, I will share my experience and hopefully let her know that she can “Lean In.”
